Unable to scan directly to my PC

I have a Neat Connect scanner and an HP laptop. Both were purchased new in May 2016. My cloud subscription has expired. I do not need the cloud service and therefore I do not wish to pay for it as it is unnecessary for my needs. I only wish to scan from my Neat Connect directly to my PC, however, the software requires me to subscribe in order to do this. It makes no sense to me!!! I'm reading Neat's web pages and I can not find what is referred to as "Neat Basic', only essential, premium, and business. My Neat Connect box clearly states that "A subscription is not necessary to use the scanner or the features of Neat Basic". Soooo.....what is Neat Basic and where can I find it? Why can't I scan directly from my scanner to my PC without the cloud software running?

Hello John,

The only way to scan to “Computer” using the Neatconnect you will need to have either our Cloud-Powered or unsupported Legacy software open to perform that task. It will not allow you to scan directly to the computer without going through the software.

I have the same problem. I have downloaded the Legacy software v5.7. installed it, but wants me to sign into my Neat subscription which is expired.
