Windows :: Modify Category Lists

Last Updated: Mar 22, 2018 04:25PM EDT

Learn how to show or hide categories (or lists) in Neat. This allows users to hide infrequently used categories, shortening the list of categories to scroll through when assigning information to scanned items.

To show currently hidden categories, or hide unnecessary categories, follow the steps below.

Modify Lists

  1. Go to Settings, then select Lists.
    Neat Windows - Show or hide tax categories - Step 1
  2. In the window that appears, click the small down arrow, then select the list that you want to modify from the drop-down menu.
  3. The full list of categories will appear.  Categories that are currently visible in Neat will be checked; unchecked boxes indicate that a category is currently hidden. Individual categories can be checked or unchecked by clicking on the box to the left of the category name.From here,you can opt to add, edit or delete a category using the corresponding button:

Add a new item to that specific category

To add, click the Add button. Enter a name for the item that you wish to add and select a category to store it under. Click OK to save these changes.

Edit the currently selected item

To edit, click the Edit button. Enter a new Name or Category for the item. Click OK to save these changes.

NOTE: You will need to navigate to the chosen category and check the newly created item before Neat will display this new value.

Delete the currently selected item

To delete, click the Delete button. A confirmation window will ask you to verify the deletion. Click YES to delete.

NOTE: You may also show or hide a range of categories by selecting one, then holding down the SHIFT key and selecting the last category you wish to highlight. This will highlight the first and last categories selected, as well as everything between them. With these categories selected, press the Select/Deselect button to show or hide them in the software.
